Gold - Indy International Wine Competition - 2016

A wine that really shows off the terroir of our old vine Cabernet, starting off with dark aromas of very black fruit, black currant, and a hint of Oregon mint, with flavors of blackberry, currant, smoky oak, and ripe plum all on a firm, tight grained structure built for aging.  Truly special paired with blue cheese.

A lower alcohol, vibrant Syrah with aromas of dark earth, dill pickles, and a little mocha, followed by flavors of bright red currant, tart strawberry, and a hint of lemon zest. Would pair well with asparagus, tart apples, balsamic vinegar, and havarti cheese.

As these grapes were waiting to be processed, a short, very windy storm rocked the winery, blowing tiny bits of our cedar tree into the bins.  As a result, this Tempranillo is dominated by flavors and aromas of pine and eucalyptus mint, with tart cherry, tobacco and spicy leather along for the ride. One of a kind!

A dark, dense, almost brooding style of Cabernet desrving of a Reserve label, with abundant flavors and aromas of black cherry, black currant, and toasted oak, ending wit rich, ripe, chewy tannins.  Needs some cellar time or pairing with a big, thick steak to truly appreciate.

Grapes from our extremely hot and sunny south facing Khyam's Block have produced a dark, dense wine opening with aromas of red raspberry and linden flower, followed by waves of ripe blackberry, sweet black currant and black walnut. What an interesting aromatic set of Earl Grey tea, a raspberry ice pop, shredded coconut and a bit of fresh-turned earth. More raspberries on the palate, along with flavors of nectarine, espresso and a bitter almond note. Modest acidity with a nice, round mouthfeel.

Dark garnet color.  Aromas and flavors of red and black plum, milk chocolate cocoa mix, and grilled bell pepper with a round, crisp, dry medium--to-full body and a warming, engaging, medium-long finnish with impressions of red and black fruit, leather and peppered meat, and sweet tomatoes with coating, well-integrated, medium tannins and light oak flavor.  Ripe and a touch decadent, this bright Cabernet Franc will pair nicely with an Italian beef with spicy peppers.
